BUILDING SCHOOL GARDENS
“An environment-based education movement–at all levels of education–will help students realize that school isn’t supposed to be a polite form of incarceration, but a portal to the wider world.” –Richard Louv, author of Last Child in the Woods
Urban youth don’t get much exposure to the wild or where their food comes from, so we “bring the wild” and edible foods to them by designing and installing gardens in their schools. Gardens are outdoor classrooms of learning from all different disciplines and teach students responsibility, stewardship, leadership, and enjoyment of nature and its fruitful bounty.
